It was late January, 2017, when we went to the Grand Canyon to shoot snow storms. It was around 20F outside. I'd been shooting panoramas at Knob Turnoff, on Hermit Road, for about an hour, near sunset, when all of a sudden I see a large bird in the viewfinder. Turns out a pair of California Condors had come around the corner when I was otherwise occupied. I'd been shooting in manual mode for the panoramas and took this quick shot, at 1/60s, before switching to shutter priority mode to try to get sharper images of the birds. Of course by the time I'd got that all set up, they dipped down into the dark canyon and I wasn't able to get a better shot.
